Celebrating Our 1 Year Wedding Anniversary

Curtis and I spent five days in Chicago, Illinois to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary last weekend. We had a wonderful time together, we can't believe it's already been a year of marriage! Although it has been a very challenging and transitional year, we are so happy that the Lord brought us together. My work scheduled me to travel for three weeks in June, so it was nice to have some time with Curtis before I would be sent all over the place.

We purchased CityPasses so that we could explore the different attractions around Chicago for a reduced price! One of our favorite locations was the Adler Planetarium. It has a beautiful view of the cityscape of Chicago and Lake Michigan!

Curtis and I also had the opportunity to go to the John Hancock Observatory and watch the sun set over the city. It was gorgeous! We also visited the Signature Lounge on the 96th floor for some dessert to see the sparkling lights of the city at night.

We also visited Millenium Park and viewed the famous bean that reflects the city of Chicago in it...

We quickly found that it also reflected ourselves in it!

Curtis certainly enjoyed playing inside the bean with his own reflection. I also did! We can be so goofy together! :)

Of course, while we were in Chicago, we had to try some of the deep dish Chicago-style pizza. Some of our friends (and our hotel's concierge) recommended us to go to Giordano's. Curtis and I are now convinced that Chicago-style pizza is delicious!

Another place that we went to was the Field Museum. Here I am standing in front of one of the few actual full-size T-Rex fossil skeletons in the world!

Another attraction that we went to was the Shedd Aquarium. We were able to stand right next to a huge aquarium filled with sharks, watch dolphins swim swiftly, and watch beluga whales dancing together in the water. We also went to the Planet Earth 4D, and we looked great sporting our 4D glasses!

On one final note, if you EVER go to Chicago, you've got to check this restaurant out -- it's called Billy Goat Tavern. It has the best hamburgers/cheeseburgers that Curtis and I have ever had! The original owner was known for having a pet billy goat...the restaurant is very unique and casual, but it was somewhere we plan to go back whenever we visit Chicago!

We can't wait to see where the Lord leads us in this upcoming year! Please keep praying for us as we discern where God wants us. We do hope to provide you with an update soon on a call (job) for Curtis in the near future, but we'll have to see what His timing is for us.

We also can't wait to see where we get to visit for our next anniversary! :)

  1. awesome pics! looks like a lot of fun and you saw a lot of really great things. I love how blue Lake Michigan is! It's cool that you went to the signature lounge, that's where Gavin took me for dinner the night he proposed. :)

  2. So fun! Glad you two had a blast. Congrats on one year!

  3. What a fun trip! I can't believe it's already been a year, time flies! We are going to Chicago soon in august with my family, so i'm way excited!

  4. Thank you Curtis and Margaret for sharing your Blog photos from Chicago with all of us.

We leave next Tuesday and will definitely go to the Billy Goat Tavern!

Hope you both are doing well - it has been super hot here in Jacksonville (plus a tornado visited our city on Friday).

Take care, blessings and peace, Lisa and Curt

  5. Thanks for stopping by my blog - What seminary does your husband go to? What are ya'll hoping to do with that - I'm curious!

  6. I don't remember how I found you. Boo. I never remember much, sadly. I was asking about the seminary because that is really exciting! Some dear friends of ours are going to our church's version of Seminary - The Pastor's College. My husband hopes to eventually go into ministry as well, so I admire what ya'll are doing. You can check for jobs in West Texas if you like - that's where we are lol!
