Ministering at Grace for the Past Year

It's been a while since we've given you an update on Curtis' ministry at Grace.  Although I was a lot more detailed in my post (last March 2010), this one will be much briefer giving you some of the highlights.

Last Summer, Curtis taught about the Ten Commandments in Sunday School.  Each week, it became more and more apparent that we had all failed every commandment that God has given to us.  Curtis also led youth group on Wednesday nights about the men of Genesis.

Curtis took the middle schoolers to The Edge, a summer camp that was located at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Tennessee.  He also took the high schoolers to RYM (Reformed Youth Ministry) at Panama City Beach, Florida.  It was a very encouraging time for Curtis to get to know the kids in the youth group.

In the Fall, Curtis taught about "The Objections About Christianity" on Wednesday nights.  Topics included:
  • How Can A Good God Allow Suffering?
  • Hell
  • How Does Science Relate to Faith?
  • Is Christianity The Only Way?
He also shared his philosophy of ministry with the high school Sunday School entitling the series "Why we have the Middle Schoolers with us on Wednesday Nights."

One event that stands out to me from the Fall includes our Girls Night Out - we traveled to one of our youth leaders' cabin an hour away.  It was a special time where we were able to share in each others' lives.  Curtis and the boys camped out at the church and then had a "Turkey Bowl" where they played a game of football - adult men vs. youth boys.  If you're wondering, the adult men won!  We also had a great turnout for our annual Progressive Dinner around Christmas!

In the Winter/Spring 2011, Curtis has been teaching a study called "Face to Face with Jesus" through the book of Matthew on Wednesday nights.  He is also teaching "God's Wisdom for the Confusion," a study on the book of Proverbs.  I feel like I get so much out of his teaching!

I've already posted about the ski trip (in January), but we also had a Lock-In, another Pirate Scavenger Hunt in downtown Savannah and a Paint Ball extravaganza!

Last Tuesday, we had a Senior Banquet to honor our 6 high school seniors that are about to graduate.  In the above picture, our seniors include Sarah, Kathryn, Reid, CJ, Alex and Julianne.  We can't believe they are already moving into their next chapter of life, but we are excited to see how God will use each of them. :)

  1. Found you through Married to the Ministry blogroll. I'm always excited to read about how God is working in other places and through other ministry families! Be encouraged, sister.
