8 months!

Anna is now 8 months old.  The milestones and special memories this month include the following:
1. Saying her first consonant sound (a "G")
2. Crawling two different ways (in a breakdance/worm fashion and eventually the normal crawling you think of)
3. Cutting her first 2 teeth
4. Sitting up after crawling
5. Meeting her great grandmother "Nana" [Side note: She passed away 3 weeks later and we're heading to St. Louis this weekend for her funeral]
6. Visiting her first pumpkin patch
7. Attending her first Purdue football game
We now need a babysitter to go out to eat at a restaurant (unless it's fast food) because she gets bored being in the same place.  We think she understands what a kiss is because she has started kissing us back with a squealing sound and embracing our faces.
Her personality is really starting to come out!
She loves music!  Playing her piano
She likes to take her books off the shelf.
Look at all this hair coming in!  We say she likes books like her Daddy and shoes/purses like her Mommy.  (Although she likes to eat them, not read/wear them!)
She got her first Halloween card in the mail.  She found it rather tasty.  Thanks, Grandma and Granddad!
The layering of clothing has started to prepare for the fall/winter.

She now knows what grass is.
Look out world!

What a happy baby!

She has also started lifting her arms up for us to hold her.  This was right when Daddy walked in the room!
She loves spending time with Daddy.  What an eventful month!

Exploring a Real Pumpkin Patch

We traveled to a little town called Brookston, Indiana to go to our first real pumpkin patch as a family.  We invited some of our neighbors along with us.
This pumpkin was 1,189 pounds!
Family shot
A John Deere in action.  Bringing in fresh picked pumpkins!
We're not in Savannah anymore.
You can see the pumpkins growing in the back left field behind Anna.  This was a precious shot. She was cold so it was hard to get some good smiles. :)  She just loves biting that bottom lip now!
We searched high and low for the perfect McDaniel pumpkin.  I'm holding the one that we chose!
Caroline is one of Anna's good friends.  They love to spend time together.  Caroline took a long time picking which pumpkin she wanted also.  Ours is on the left, Caroline's is on the right.
We also explored a corn maze.  We kept getting lost!
Anna was interested in the corn... well as her friend, Caroline!
We had a really fun time. :)

Quick Trip to Visit Nana

Curtis' Nana has not been doing so well (health wise) for a while, so we had the chance to travel to Pennsylvania so she could meet her only great grandchild in early October.
I think they liked each other. :)
In fact, Anna's outfit matched Nana's skirt.
Thought this video was absolutely precious.
While we were there, Anna also got to meet Belle.  They were both very excited about this.
We were able to see Aunt Megan and Aunt Heather's new apartment, too.  Anna loved grabbing Megan's hair (that she later cut off that day).
Aunt Heather and Anna were goofy together.
We got to celebrate Megan's birthday together as a whole family.  It was a special time!
I even got a chance to see one of my dearest friends from high school - Rebecca!  She was able to meet us up in the short hour that we had.  It was her first time meeting Anna.
It was also all of our first times meeting her husband, Trae!  The time flew by, but the time together was really fun.

Before we knew it, we were back in Indiana.  And I think we are actually starting to call it home now. :)

Gators in Disguise

We went to our very first Purdue football game last month.
I think we all had a good time with some great fellowship.
Here's Anna asleep in the baby carrier.  She looks like a villain from Star Wars - Darth Anna!
She slept through the first and fourth quarter.
Hanging out with Daddy
and Mommy!

We sure look like we bleed black and gold...
Anna was a big hit at the potluck we had after the game.
She makes friends wherever she goes!
Looking forward to trying it again next year. Maybe the Boilermakers will win then! :)

Anna Meets Aunts

In September, Anna had the opportunity to meet her aunts (both of Curtis' sisters) for the first time.  Megan and Heather graciously took time off work to come visit us in West Lafayette.  We did lots of fun things with them - Anna and I took Heather to Purdue's campus and the mall.  We had a McDaniel girls day where we walked around downtown Lafayette and went shopping.  We also went to the Farmer's Market, got some froyo and watched the new Star Trek movie.

Anna absolutely loved them!  Check out these pictures as proof.

Aunt Megan
Silly Aunt Heather - she put a beard on her :)

This is the smile that her aunts were given in the back seat.
She blends right in with the McDaniel family. Check out these photo booth goofy shots below.

 We mimicked Anna's facial expressions.

As you can see, we had tons of fun with Aunt Megan and Aunt Heather. :)
