In early June, we set off for our big family trip to Florida. On the way, we stopped in South Carolina and visited with Papa and Mimi Beth for a few days. We were grateful to see their kitchen renovations in person, listen to Papa preach, get to know Mimi Beth better, play with Belle the dog, and explore their neighborhood playground.
From there, we took a pit stop in Savannah and had a tasty lunch with some of our dear friends, Donnie & Melani. It's hard to believe Curtis officiated their wedding almost 10 years ago! We had a lovely time with them!
We arrived at my parents' house safely in Florida. The next day, it was a priority of mine to visit Grandpa and Sheila. We went to their favorite restaurant and had another delicious meal! We had a great time catching up with them!
When I asked Kate what she wanted to do this summer, she didn't have much on her bucket list. One thing she did want was to go to the beach! So, we went to Vilano Beach in St. Augustine.
Anna enjoyed the waves though she later told me she prefers the pool.
Drew was overjoyed when the waves hit him! He and Grandma had a lot of fun together.
Curtis and I were pretty happy to be back at the beach too!
One evening, my mom invited some family and dear friends over for dinner.
Kate entertained everyone by putting on various accessories on the men. I think my dad is the only one who would be OK with me posting so I won't reveal any other pics!
We had a fun time exploring my parents' backyard and having a fire. Curtis was especially skilled at making the fire blaze!
We met with Heather, one of my best friends!
This was a very special visit as we had never had all of our kids meet each other until this day. Heather and I originally met back in Savannah when we were both working full-time and before she was married to Allen. Curtis officiated their wedding 11 years ago and we have watched both of our families grow ever since! We even shared children's clothing with each other when we both were having a child of the opposite gender at the same time. Anna has already scheduled a play date with them in a year when we come back to Florida next summer. LOL!
One final visit took place before the week ended: Uncle Benny! We love when he comes over and spends time with us. Here is a picture of him reading to them before bed.
Finally, Curtis and I were off for our weeklong anniversary getaway!! The kids ran alongside the car as we drove away. They couldn't wait for Grandparent Camp to start!
