Week 1 of our Florida Trip

In early June, we set off for our big family trip to Florida. On the way, we stopped in South Carolina and visited with Papa and Mimi Beth for a few days. We were grateful to see their kitchen renovations in person, listen to Papa preach, get to know Mimi Beth better, play with Belle the dog, and explore their neighborhood playground.

From there, we took a pit stop in Savannah and had a tasty lunch with some of our dear friends, Donnie & Melani. It's hard to believe Curtis officiated their wedding almost 10 years ago! We had a lovely time with them!

We arrived at my parents' house safely in Florida. The next day, it was a priority of mine to visit Grandpa and Sheila. We went to their favorite restaurant and had another delicious meal! We had a great time catching up with them!

When I asked Kate what she wanted to do this summer, she didn't have much on her bucket list. One thing she did want was to go to the beach! So, we went to Vilano Beach in St. Augustine.

Anna enjoyed the waves though she later told me she prefers the pool.

Drew was overjoyed when the waves hit him! He and Grandma had a lot of fun together.

Curtis and I were pretty happy to be back at the beach too!

One evening, my mom invited some family and dear friends over for dinner.

Kate entertained everyone by putting on various accessories on the men. I think my dad is the only one who would be OK with me posting so I won't reveal any other pics!

We had a fun time exploring my parents' backyard and having a fire. Curtis was especially skilled at making the fire blaze!

We met with Heather, one of my best friends!

This was a very special visit as we had never had all of our kids meet each other until this day. Heather and I originally met back in Savannah when we were both working full-time and before she was married to Allen. Curtis officiated their wedding 11 years ago and we have watched both of our families grow ever since! We even shared children's clothing with each other when we both were having a child of the opposite gender at the same time. Anna has already scheduled a play date with them in a year when we come back to Florida next summer. LOL!

One final visit took place before the week ended: Uncle Benny! We love when he comes over and spends time with us. Here is a picture of him reading to them before bed.

Finally, Curtis and I were off for our weeklong anniversary getaway!! The kids ran alongside the car as we drove away. They couldn't wait for Grandparent Camp to start!

School's Over!

These girls completed another school year. It had a lot of challenges with e-learning and masks, but they persevered through it all. I am so proud of these two! Here's their comparison shots between the first and last day of school. They have grown a lot!
Anna completed 2nd grade!
Kate completed Kindergarten!
On one of the last days of school, Curtis and I took Drew out for a lunch date before his sisters were home for the summer.
It was a fun day!
After school was over, we took them all out for ice cream to celebrate.
We also had a girls' night where we put on facial masks and painted our nails all while singing their current favorite music - The Sound of Music!
We also surprised them with Kona Ice before we left for our trip to Florida. Summer has been off to a great start!

Kate's Belated Birthday Mermaid Party!

Kate waited patiently while her sister and brother celebrated their birthdays in February and April. She decided to delay her party so that she could invite more people! (I had limited her to only 3 people if we celebrated indoors for her actual birthday in March.) It took place on May 22, but it's taken me over a month to post! I would say her patience paid off because she was able to have 9 of her 10 invited friends come (plus some siblings) and the weather was perfect for a mermaid/water party as she requested. Pictured below was an activity where the kids excavated mermaids out of clay seashells!

Here they are showing their little mermaids that they excavated!

Kate and her friends would go in and out of the inflatable pool...

...and run through the slip 'n' slide! Over and over again.

Kate was thrilled to have friends from her class, her bus, neighbors, old friends from BSF and Pre-K celebrate with her!

She had a cupcake cake that turned out pretty awesome!

I love her smile as she awaits blowing out the candles!

The present-opening was rather chaotic and I can't really say who gave her what gifts, but she and her friends had a great time tearing into all of them! It was a lot of fun and I think she will look back fondly on her 6th birthday party. Curtis and I are looking forward to a break from throwing parties until next February! 😂
