My 29th Birthday

I'm officially in my last year of my 20's.  Curtis took me to my new favorite restaurant in the area, RedSeven, and then we watched the new Hunger Games movie.  It was a fabulous date!  It was really fun to open gifts with Anna - she was very interested!

I think she thought it was all for her!

We had little ganache lava cakes for my birthday.

Anna was mesmerized by the flame.  I think she would have tried to grab it if she had the chance.

Of course, it all wouldn't have been nearly as fun if my darling husband wasn't there to celebrate with me!

Each holiday is more special now that we have Anna celebrating them all with us!  Since we've traveled so much, we decided we'd stay in West Lafayette.  We went to a Thanksgiving celebration at our church where Anna was able to meet lots of international students that loved her.
We played a trivia game and our table decided to name ourselves "Anna's Team."  She was very proud of her team and we almost came in first place until we answered the final question wrong!
Grandma gave her this nice "Gobble Gobble" shirt.  Grammie gave her the huge bow that matches it.  She enjoyed eating turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and all the traditional food over at our senior pastor's house.  There are so many things that our family is thankful for - our individual relationships with the Lord, how He has called us to RUF at Purdue, how He is providing through his people with the financial support that we need, our extended families, our sweet friends, our new home.  And of course, we're so thankful for this little girl that God has entrusted to us. :)

Anna Banana is now 9 months

This post is almost a month too late!  This month (end of October-November), we traveled to St. Louis for her great grandmother's funeral where she met lots of extended family.  She's eating all sorts of solid foods now.  You've seen her adorable giraffe costume for Halloween.  She's really been trying to stand with objects around her height (like the dishwasher when it is opened - pictured below).  Her favorite thing to do is dance with her daddy.  It's a bonus when she gets both of us!  She giggles and laughs when we play peek-a-boo.  She's starting to put her hands together and try to clap.  She says "dada-da-da" a lot, but I don't think she knows what it means.  Although, it melts her daddy's heart :)

She just thinks this is the coolest thing to do!

Practicing more of her standing at a baby shower!

I love that she's close to the same size of this 2-liter.

Meet Me in St. Louis

Curtis' dear grandmother ("Nana") passed away on October 27.  Everyone on his mom's side of the family met in St. Louis the following weekend to celebrate her life and attend her funeral.
His Nana loved Christmas and the St. Louis Cardinals, so we dressed appropriately.  We're thrilled that she is out of pain and with the Lord.  Not to mention, she has finally been reunited with her husband after over 30 years.

None of Curtis' extended family had met Anna.  Even though we wished they could have met under better circumstances, Anna gave joy to each person that she encountered.

Aunt Megan.

This was the first time that Curtis and I traveled back to St. Louis since we moved away from it in 2009.  It had been over 4 years!  We drove past Nana's old house and our old apartment.  It seemed like it was all a dream.  It was really fun to reminisce about our first year of marriage in this city.  Before we left St. Louis, we headed over to their zoo and Forest Park.

We found that Anna was more interested in people than animals most of the time.

She also kissed Mommy in front of the camel!

The trees were gorgeous.  What a beautiful time of year!

What a nice, relaxing end to a busy weekend.  We look forward to future travels to St. Louis now that we live so much closer!

First Halloween.

Now that we have Anna, we get to experience all the holidays like little kids again!  It's been so much fun.  :)
She's wearing her first Halloween onesie and hat.

Her pumpkin hat didn't really fit her well.  Haha!

Anna dressed as a giraffe.

We went to a Trunk or Treat event at a local church with some of our friends.
Lou brought Elena (dressed as a cat).

Anna was in a great mood!

I love how their costumes are so big on them that you barely can see their faces!

We went trick-or-treating in the rain.

Daddy and Mommy got to enjoy the spoils of her trick-or-treating! :)
