Our huge road trip in May

We traveled a lot in May on our 2.5 week road trip.  It was over 2,000 miles!
The three of us were totally pumped!  We just wished we could have our sweet cat, Lion-O, with us.  We sure missed him!  Our playlist included the Frozen soundtrack and Rain for Roots, not to mention a personalized Disney princess tea party for Anna.
Our first stop: Nashville, Tennessee
Curtis' sister, Megan, happen to be moving to the Nashville area at the same time that we would be passing through.  Megan had the great idea to surprise Curt (their dad) for an early birthday dinner celebration.  He was completely surprised when he saw the 3 of us there to celebrate with him!

Even though Anna isn't smiling in this picture, she was very happy to see her Papa and Grammie.  And they were happy to see her too.
We had a great time with (almost) the whole McDaniel family.  We missed you, Heather!
Next stop: Panama City Beach, Florida
My parents were on their way to visit my brother Ben, in Mobile.  They planned to stop for one day in Panama City Beach so that they could spend some time with us on Mother's Day.  Grandma and Grandad were thrilled to see us, especially Anna!
We spent the next week attending RUF Summer Conference, which you can see on the post below this one (or click here).  Originally, we had planned to travel back to Indiana at this point and take a separate trip down to Jacksonville and Savannah later in the summer to visit family, friends and to do some fundraising for RUF.  We decided to combine the trips a few weeks prior so we got to spend extra time with Grandma and Grandad!

Next stop: Green Cove Springs, Florida
Anna seemed to be coming down with a cold at the end of the conference and her fever was climbing.  When her fever hit 106.5, we went to the ER pretty quickly after arriving in GCS.
We found out it was a double ear infection.  We were so glad for antibiotics!
Within no time, she was back to her normal, happy self. :)

Next stop: Gainesville, Florida
Oops! This was such a quick stop that I forgot to add it to the map above.  We also forgot to take pictures!  Curtis was able to spend some time with our RUF campus minister Steve at lunch while I spent it with one of my best friends, Kaylen.  We also spent time with the Fields before they welcomed their precious little girl into the world!  It was a time of encouragement and refreshment all around.

Next stop: St. Simons Island, Georgia
Oops! This also was a quick trip without any pictures.  We loved spending a couple of hours on our way to Savannah with one of my good friends from college, Jenna and her husband Dan and their little one Samuel.  They even shared some yummy cheesecake with us from Jenna's birthday!

Next stop: Savannah, Georgia
We had lunch with the Arpins.  They're a dear couple to us!  Curtis officiated their wedding 3 years ago.  We love spending time with them whenever we have the chance.
We also had some delightful ice cream from Leopold's, one of our favorite places that we miss.
We had dinner with the Akins, another dear family to us (not pictured).  Ironically, Curtis also officiated their wedding but it was 4 years ago.  It was nice to catch up with them as they prepare for their second child!

We also enjoyed getting to see so many people that we love and miss at Grace Church of the Islands, the church where he received his first call to ministry.  Curtis taught Sunday School and shared about how God has been at work through RUF at Purdue.  It was even encouraging to me to hear him and step back and agree that God really has been changing lives!  I don't think I had thought about it until he was up there presenting.  Curtis got to spend time with one of his closest friends in Savannah, Chris.  We stayed with one of my precious friends, Rachel.  Her children loved Anna!  Audrey would have been an excellent babysitter if we still lived there.
Likewise, Joseph would have been excellent also!
Final stop: Knoxville, Tennessee
No story for this one.  It was just a good halfway point to get us back to Indiana in two days. ;)  Anna was so much easier to travel with at 14 months than all the previous trips we've had.  This sums up about how we all felt by the end of this trip.

SuCo 2014

We went to Panama City Beach, Florida for our annual RUF Summer Conference (aka "SuCo") with 11 of our students.
I love how they made their mark on the beach with the P for Purdue. :)
I didn't get to take many pictures of the actual conference since I was mainly with Anna Banana.  I had a great time meeting fellow RUF campus minister wives and their children.  Curtis and our students let me know how amazing the seminars and sermons were!  Two of my favorite things about the conference - 1) Seeing our students'  lives change for Christ and 2) Watching our students love Anna well.  I can't wait to do it again!
Anna was especially clingy to her daddy since she didn't get to see him as much.
Elizabeth spent lots of time with Anna!
Anna got to explore sand for the first time.

  She loved the beach!
During this week, she started to take some of her first steps.  She got plenty of practice on the sand.

One day, several of us sported the same RUF Purdue t-shirts so we made sure to document it. :)
Our students created an assembly line to fill up a pool for Anna and other children to play in.  It was quite the labor of love!
Anna was very happy with the pool.
Zach spent some time with Anna.

 He even buried her!
Lauren observed the correct way to suck pureed fruit out of a little squeeze container.
 Her sunglasses captured it well!
It was so refreshing to be on the beach after such a harsh winter in Indiana.
Anna made some friends with some of the other RUF children.
Last but not least, RUF at Purdue won the sandcastle competition for the second year in a row!  Those engineers sure know how it's done!
The theme was "Animal Kingdom" and our students decided to sculpt Aslan on the slab (from Chronicles of Narnia).  Below, it says "In your word, I am known by another name."  They did an awesome job!

He is Risen Indeed!

We celebrated Easter this year in Lafayette.  Anna had a lovely handmade dress from her Grammie with a matching bow and reversible purse!  She was pretty impressed with it as you can see by her admiration in the mirror. :)
She went as far as kissing the mirror!
Curtis had the opportunity to preach for Easter, which was pretty special.  After an encouraging worship service at Two Cities Church, we were invited by a sweet family in the church for lunch.  It was really fun!  Here's a family shot that we took in our Easter attire - we didn't plan to match so well.
 Anna enjoyed the outdoors.
She got sick of her bow eventually.

She loves to share with us!  Here she is offering her purse to me while I take her picture.
It was nice for Anna to be more aware this year for Easter.   I think she had a great time!
