Margaret's 25th Birthday

On November 30, Curtis and I celebrated my 25th birthday. Mondays are Curtis' day off and it just so happened that my birthday was on a Monday! He was super sweet and took me to Forsyth Park because I love going to parks. That was the first park that I've been to since we moved to Savannah. You can see the pretty fountain in the background.

As we walked around, I found this amazing tree that looked like God made it just for me to sit on it!

One of my favorite birthday gifts this year was this purse that my mother-in-law made for me! It was very thoughtful.

I had a great time receiving birthday wishes from all of my close friends and family. Thanks for making my day so special. We celebrated by going to Long Horn and we watched the movie, New Moon. It's hard to believe I'm already 25!

Reverend Curtis

On November 22, Curtis was ordained by the Savannah River Presbytery. For those of you unaccustomed to the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA) denomination, this is a thorough process that Curtis has been working hard towards for the past 3+ years. He had to obtain his Master of Divinity (strenuous 3 year program), work as a pastoral intern for at least a year, take 5 written examinations, stand before a Candidates & Credentials Committee, preach a sermon before the Savannah River Presbytery, and take an oral examination in front of all the elders of the Savannah River Presbytery. After a unanimous presbytery vote from all the elders, I am proud to share with you that Curtis was approved in October and ordained on November 22nd.

The picture above shows Curtis giving his first official Benediction (as a teaching elder) to the congregation at his Ordination & Installation service.

Praise the Lord that He carried Curtis & I through this time!

During the service, we sang 2 great hymns - "Before the Throne of God Above" and "In Christ Alone." These are 2 of our favorites, especially "In Christ Alone," which we sang at our wedding.

These are all of the elders (teaching and ruling) that served as Curtis' Commission, along with some guests of the Commission: Curtis' dad, Curt; My dad, Rick; and a good family friend, Randy. These were the men that prayed and laid their hands on Curtis, which symbolizes that that they believe God has called Curtis to this special role as a pastor.

I Peter 5:1-5
So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."

Pictured above are 2 of my uncles, my aunt, and my cousin, Elle, that traveled from Melbourne, FL.

We had lots of friends and family come and support us as Curtis achieved this life goal, including Curtis' dad & sisters from Pennsylvania. We were so blessed to have the support and encouragement of those that we love.

And here we are with Elle! :)
